Well, the votes are in, the people have spoken, and they say they’d like to watch Cary Grant and Rosalind Russell trading quips in the utterly brilliant His Girl Friday in the Workman’s Club on Wednesday, August 10th. So come join us to watch the film, have a drink from the bar, and maybe sample a few delicious cakes and biscuits. Last month we had a free raffle, but this time we’ve decided to sell tickets and give the proceeds to famine relief in Somalia. If you have anything to donate – unused books, tickets, vouchers, foodie stuff, CDs, beauty products, booze – we’ll happily take them off your hands. The film, as ever, will commence at 8pm, so get in there early-ish to get a good seat (during the last film there was standing room only at the back). See you there!
August Anti-Room Film Club – We Have A Winner!
Jul 28th, 2011 by theantiroom

hi hi! Any word on which charity will be receiving the proceeds?
Hi Qaoileann, I think I remember Anna suggesting one, but we hadn’t decided. Do you have any suggestions?
I was thinking of Oxfam as they have a pretty good record and aren’t affiliated with any religious organisation…
Cool, non-religious and not currently associated with any controversy would have been my main criteria too!
Love that film! Unfortunately got something else on that night but enjoy!
Great choice. I’ll be there, and I’ll give prizes too.
I can donate one of these rainbow necklaces: http://www.etsy.com/shop/bettyoctopus?section_id=8094640
…and I LOVE that movie, I’ll be there in spirit.
Jess, that is GORGEOUS, thank you.
Via Facebook, we’ve also had some donations of beauty booty and bottles of wine.
Thank you, goodly people!
Wow, that is a beautiful necklace.
I can make it this time… looking forward to it! Will have a root around at home and see if I have any decent for the raffle.
I’ve got a load of (brand new/unplayed) pop and indie CDs that I’ll happily donate.
Won’t be able to make it, good luck and hope you make as much dosh as possible!
Dammit! I shall miss this one too. September…?
Missed the last one but looking forward to this!
As a side-order, there’s an enjoyable 8-minute cut of His Girl Friday with all the dialogue removed. Contains spoilers, but only silent ones.
